The Science Garden at Techniquest Glyndŵr has been open since September 2017 and volunteers are needed to help with its ongoing maintenance.
This involves doing occasional weeding, planting of seeds and plants at various times of year, helping to tidy up leaves and other debris from the pathways, helping to paint/preserve fencing and other features installed in the garden or helping to construct additional features such as bird boxes, feeders and more.
Join us to help keep this attractive open air space a place which our visitors will enjoy and be able to experience another aspect of our scientific offer.
Techniquest Glyndŵr currently has two monthly events where volunteers can help to make a real difference. Our Astronomy Club meets once a month on Saturday evenings during the winter months and offers children (and adults) a chance to discover fascinating information about the night sky and the Universe. If you are an amateur astronomer maybe you could help explain features visible from our telescopes, or help someone set up their newly acquired telescope so that they can start on their own journey to explore the planets and stars.
From time to time Techniquest Glyndŵr presents special events both for schools and the general public. These would typically involve organisations such as the Institute of Physics, the Royal Academy of Engineering or Royal Society of Chemistry.
We always need people who have a scientific background or interest in science and engineering to assist at these events by explaining an exhibit or a running an activity with visitors young or old. Maybe you too could be a STEM Ambassador!
